Inspired by the changing seasons, the play of natural light, and the intricate details of everyday life, Jasna Verčko's work embodies the mood of the season. In this interview, she shares her best festive styling tips and what she loves about her favourite Falcon products.

Tell us about yourself and what inspires you?
I'm a food photographer & stylist from Slovenia. I have had a dessert blog called ‘Bake Something Different’ since 2020, and in the last two years I have started to focus more on food photography. I established my food photography business a year ago. I find inspiration everywhere: in the changing seasons, moody days which offer the best light for food photography and in observing the little details. I think good observation is the key to meaningful and storytelling photography.
What is your best styling tip for the Festive period?
Always add some pine branches! Also, red props are helpful too in creating the perfect Christmas spirit. I like to add vintage elements, cookies, candles and usually a wooden backdrop to get that lovely rustic feel. A sugar sprinkle is also a nice touch, it reminds me of snow.
What do you love to eat at Christmas?
My favourite Christmas food is actually quite classic. Roasted turkey and potatoes for Christmas dinner or lunch and a potato salad and charcuterie board for Christmas Eve. As for the desserts, we always bake gingerbread and sugar cookies, fruitcake and bundt cakes.
What is your favourite Falcon Product and why?
It's so hard to pick! I'm in love with the Black teapot, it adds so much character to my moody photos. For the Christmas season, my favourite is the Red cake stand. It makes every cake look festive even if it's simple. And I adore that Decorative cake tin! I enjoy baking bundt cakes because they are easy to make, but always so beautiful.
What are your plans for the new year?
I look forward to the holidays to spend some peaceful time with my family after a busy December. Every year, we have dinner at my parents house together with my grandparents. After that, I'll be at home enjoying a glass of champagne with my husband and waiting to admire the fireworks that are shown locally with our almost 2 years old daughter. Family means a great deal to me and I believe Christmas and New Year is best reserved for family gatherings. Or friends, of course!
