F: Can you tell us a bit about you and how you came to be so passionate about food?
Y. I grew up in a family of food lovers and gardeners so it was a natural fit for my career. I've just always felt so at home in the kitchen.
F. What can we expect from your new cookbook, Snacking Cakes?
Y. The book has 50 recipes, with TONS of variations for easy one layer cakes that you can enjoy any time of day. I've tried to hit every possible cake craving so it has everything from a super fudgy chocolate cake to lemony olive oil. Cake doesn't have to just be for special occasions!
F. You use Falcon enamelware within Snacking Cakes. What’s your favourite product from our ranges and what do you use it for?
Y. I love all of the tumblers and small dishes, and the serving tray is handy for so many things because it looks so great in and out of the kitchen.
F. You use our products specifically within the Chocolate
Peanut Butter Cake featured recipe in the new book. Can you tell us about the recipe?
Y. This super chocolatey peanut butter cake is a favorite. It has a sweet-salty thing going on that is just so cravelable.
F. Is there anyone in the industry (or outside) you'd like to shoutout about in your local area at the moment?
Y. I've been so inspired how local businesses and restaurants have pivoted to help their communities. There is a cookbook shop/cafe in my neighborhood called Archestratus that does everything from hosting bake sales to selling beautiful produce and fresh bread. There are also so many restaurants and chefs that have pitched in to feed their communities like Millie Peartree and Yin Chang and Moonlyn Tsai of Heart of Dinner.
F. How have you been keeping during this time? Do you have any tips as we all become accustomed to this 'new normal'?
Y. I am very lucky to be able to work from home so I have been trying to keep busy with work, and then I take my dog on lots of walk breaks. I'd just say to take care of each other, and give people lots of grace. This is an unprecedented, scary time and we are all living through it together.
