Can you tell us a bit about Unison?
Unison is a modern home furnishing retailer, started in 2006 by wife and husband Alicia Rosauer and Robert Segal. Our product offering strives to be highly versatile and timeless in design to incorporate into any space. With our signature bedding and bath textiles, we produce under Oeko-Tex standards. That has led us to select other like-minded brands and designers over the years who share similar values of high quality and responsible manufacturing.
What do your customers love most about what you do?
Our customers appreciate the design integrity and curated focus of our products. Also as a small team, we still offer a more personal shopping experience.
What's your favourite Falcon product and why?
Hard to choose from, all are magnificent in their own right! Yet, if had to narrow down the Falcon 6pcs Prep Set is such a core product in any home. Love how it can go from kitchen prep straight to the dining table without having to use another bowl or vessel for a strong presentation. It’s casual and sophisticated all at once.
Is there a specific dish that you might personally make using any of our Falcon products?
We love to use this recipe for Blueberry Crisp using the Falcon 5 Pc Bake Set (Bake pan 12.25”L x 9.75”W) and Falcon 6pc Prep Set (Colander, Bowl 5.75” Diameter and Bowl 6.5” Diameter):
1 Cup Quick Cooking Oats
1/2 Cup Four
1/4 Cup Sugar
1/2 - 3/4 stick of Butter
1 tsp Cinnamon
3 pints Blueberries
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Rinse Blueberries in colander and pat dry.
Place blueberries in a 5.75” bowl and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Combine and mix oats, flour, sugar and soften butter to make crumbled topping in 6.5” bowl
Place blueberries evenly in 12.25”L x 9.75” Bake pan
Put crumbled topping over blueberries evenly. Should create a 1/2” - 1” layer.
Bake for 30 min at 350 until the top is golden brown.
Let crisp set up/rest 10 min before serving.
Serve with vanilla ice cream (optional)
What does Summer hold for the store?
We are involved with a local home tour which we look forward to engaging with more customers and highlighting the store. Also, we are hosting our annual warehouse sale within the space. It brings such a large range of our customers from years back to newer customers within our neighborhood. It's always a great opportunity to see our customers and fans.
What do you love most about Chicago in the Summer?
The outdoor music venues. From the free concerts in Millennium park, to the creative festivals such as Pitchfork, along with the biggest being Lollapalooza. In addition, in the northern suburbs, the Ravinia music festival is all season long. Seeing such amazing performances and getting to be outside is very enjoyable. Chicago has such a rich music history and culture, we find it amazing!
Are there any local companies you'd like to shoutabout? Where do you and the team usually eat, drink, and source ingredients in your local area?
The Chicago design and art community is very tight and supportive. We are huge fans of the artist Matthew Hoffman and his work under "You Are Beautiful” with his positive and inspiring messages through public art.
We are fortunate with several great restaurants and chefs who engaged early on with farm to table practices 20 years ago. We love the food at "Lula Cafe" in Logan Square, as well as at “Avec" in Fulton Market. Great food and atmosphere make the experience so exceptional!
