FALCON AND A RUGGED COASTLINE

Fee Greening is an illustrator, inspired by Medieval, Gothic and Flemish art. Her stockists include Alex Eagle, Matches, Moda Operandi, Liberty London, Partnership Editions and Fortnum & Mason. We recently caught up with Fee to find out what’s inspiring her at the moment, from her relocation to the Dorset coast to how she’s using her Falcon enamelware most.

Can you tell us a bit about you and how you came to specialise in dip pen and ink?
Growing up I was obsessed with drawing and anything magic and medieval, not a lot has changed. A wand-like drawing quill was a relative's excellent gift idea and I haven’t stopped using one since. Dip pens can be a little tricky and slow but once you get the hang of it you’re away.

What's your biggest inspiration at the moment?
I’ve recently moved back to the southwest coast after a few years living in London. Right now I am inspired by the rugged coastline and wildlife around my home.

Do you have a favourite Falcon product, and why?
I love my red roasting tins! We love cooking in our house but nothing fancy. I tend to chop up whatever veg we have kicking about the fridge with herbs and spices and seeing what the Aga produces, it’s always a bit of a surprise. If friends are down we might whack a big fish on top of it all.

Is there a specific dish that you might make using any of our Falcon products?
I’ve been making alot of gratins this year, I made a particularly gluttonous gruyere, thyme and parsnip one recently which was a real crowd pleaser.

What do you love most about Spring/Summer in the UK?
The beginning of the year can feel pretty bleak in the UK but I do love tearing across a ridgeway in a blustery gale and returning back to the kitchen for endless cups of tea. I try to focus on the signs of spring that have just been, checking if any of my bulbs are peaking out and making plans for the year ahead. I’ve gone mad for gardening since being here so I’ve ordered my summer seeds and am thinking how much fun we will have with friends in the garden now that the weather is warming up.

Where do you usually eat, drink, and source ingredients in your local area?
My partner Dan and I live between the Dorset coast and Somerset so are very lucky to be surrounded by delicious local produce. I tend to pop into Beaminster or Bridport market for veg and for any treats, like natural wine or a sneaky custard tart then I head to Soulshine, Brassica or Rise. We try and get in a pint with a sea view at least once a week, for that we head to the Square and Compass or The Anchor.
