Look to the hedgerows
Autumn is the perfect season to look beyond the obvious big blousey blooms to add interest to a bouquet. Take a walk around the garden or beyond to find autumnal offerings in hedgerows, banks and trees. Grasses, seed heads and berries offer beautiful hedgerow details in an arrangement.
Varieties to note
We are great fans of dahlias. Their intricate petal formations are mesmerising. Their range of colours are so joyful, what’s not to love! Zinnias, sunflowers and helianthus are other favourites. Then there are hydrangeas with all the beautiful dappled shades of autumn.
Styling a Bouquet in the Tangerine 3-pint jug
We love using the 3 pint jug as a vessel. White, green and orange is winning combination. Some people might shy away from orange, but using a monochrome of seasonal whites compliments the bright pop of tangerine.
Tumblers for your smaller arrangements
Tumblers are perfect for a tablescape. Small flower arrangements can be created to feature the more delicate blooms. Using a kenzo in the base of the tumbler helps secure the stems in place and weight the vessel. The kenzo allows you to place stems as if they are growing out of the vessel, for an ethereal effect.
Keen to learn more?
At Kingfisher we will be hosting a hand tie workshop on Wednesday 16th October & Friday 18th October. Nothing beats a seasonal hand tie to celebrate Autumn. A harvest of blooms give us golden tones, soft hues of pink and rich dark blackberry reds to create a beautiful hand tie arrangement. You will be guided step by step through the process so you can take a seasonal arrangement home to savour. This creative and fun morning will include locally roasted coffee and some of our favourite cakes & treats for you to enjoy.
